Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & DG (ICAR) inaugurated the “Golden Jubilee Building” and “Project Coordinator (Fruits) Building” at the ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bengaluru, Karnataka today.
In his inaugural address, Dr. Mohapatra appreciated the various remarkable technologies developed by the ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru. The Director General emphasized on preparing the ICAR-100 with a proper plan of action. He urged the scientists to re-define their approach and focus on export, food safety and quality standards. Dr. Mohapatra appreciated the work carried out during the last 5 years under the dynamic leadership of Dr. M.R. Dinesh, Director, ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru, Karnataka.
The Guest of Honor, Dr. Anand Kumar Singh, Deputy Director General (Horticultural Science), ICAR highlighted the impacts of the various technologies developed by the ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru, Karnataka. Dr. Singh also highlighted the major role played by the Dogridge rootstock in grape cultivation in Maharashtra and Karnataka. He accentuated that the ICAR-IIHR has shown a model for dissemination of technologies by conducting mega events like National Horticulture Fair - 2021 (NHF - 2021) with the theme “Horticulture - For Start-Up and Stand-Up India”.
Dr. M.R. Director, Director, ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru, Karnataka underlined the Institute’s works on 54 Horticulture Crops and the release of more than 300 technologies of which more than 40% have been commercialized.
Around two farmers’ varieties of Jackfruit and Tamarind along with an E-book on Rose were released and “Arka Samachar” was inaugurated during the occasion.
