ICAR–Krishi Vigyan Kendra, North Goa, under the ICAR–Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa, organized a Field Day on Black Bengal Goat Farming today, at Karmali village, Tiswadi taluka. The programme was jointly held in association with the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services (AHVS), Government of Goa, the Department of Agriculture, and the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), North Goa.

The experts emphasized the importance of field days in bridging the gap between scientific research and farming. He noted that such events boost farmers’ confidence and encourage them to adopt new technologies and practices that enhance productivity, sustainability, and profitability. These interactions motivate farmers to embrace modern methods and techniques that improve operations, increase efficiency, and ensure the long-term viability of their farms.
During the programme, insights were shared on the performance and adaptability of Black Bengal goats introduced under the Frontline Demonstration (FLD) programme. A success story was also highlighted, featuring a progressive farmer from Karmali who successfully reared a pair of Black Bengal goats and recently achieved the birth of a healthy male kid. His experiences provided valuable inspiration and practical guidance to fellow farmers.

The field day drew enthusiastic participation from 20 farmers as well as seven officials from ICAR–CCARI, the Department of AHVS, and ATMA–North Goa.
