ICAR–Directorate of Floricultural Research, Pune, organized the World Bee Day 2026 Celebrations today through Zoom platform under the theme “Bee Together for People and the Planet”, emphasizing the crucial role of bees in pollination, biodiversity conservation, food sovereignty, and green economic growth.
At the outset, the senior scientists, apprised the participants about the initiatives and achievements of the institute in the areas of ecosystem services and pollinator conservation, highlighting the Directorate’s efforts toward biodiversity conservation and sustainable agricultural ecosystems.

The event featured an invited lecture on ‘Bee Together for People and the Planet: Restoring Bee Habitats and Living Floral Landscapes for Pollination Sovereignty, Food Sovereignty and Green Economic Growth.’ The speaker highlighted the importance of restoring bee habitats and creating sustainable floral landscapes to support pollinators, ecological resilience, and sustainable development.

The online event witnessed enthusiastic participation from researchers, scientists, students, extension personnel, and stakeholders from across the country. A total of 170 participants attended the programme through around 100 screens on Zoom, reflecting wide outreach and active engagement in the virtual mode.
The programme concluded with concluding remarks by Dr. K. V. Prasad, The Director, ICAR DFR Pune, who appreciated the active participation of attendees and emphasized the importance of collective efforts in conserving pollinators and strengthening ecosystem sustainability for future generations.
