The Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi and Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi here at ICAR Headquarters, Krishi Bhawan today.
Both, Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & DG (ICAR) and Dr. Shekhar C. Mande, Secretary (DSIR) & Director General (CSIR) agreed to collaborate and work together on mutually agreed areas of agri-foods, medicinal and aromatic plants, nutraceuticals, precision agriculture, big data analysis, use of artificial intelligence, genetic modifications in cotton, application of sensors in agriculture, post-harvest management and agricultural mechanization.
The huge network of KVKs available with ICAR will be roped in for technology demonstration and dissemination.
A Joint Working Committee will be constituted within a month to deliberate and formulate the collaborative programmes and will meet four times a year.
Both the sides agreed to form a Steering Committee with the co-chairmanship of both the DGs which will meet twice a year to monitor the progress.
The ceremony ended with a vote of thanks from Dr. P.K. Agrawal, ADG, NASF to all the visitors and officials from ICAR.
