Workshop on ‘Gunvatta Yatra: Awareness Programme on NABL Accreditation’ Held at ICAR-CSWRI, Avikanagar

17 December 2025, Avikanagar

A one-day workshop on “Gunvatta Yatra: Awareness Programme on NABL Accreditation” was jointly organised by the Quality Council of India (QCI) and the ICAR–Central Sheep and Wool Research Institute, Avikanagar, today. The programme aimed to enhance awareness on laboratory quality systems and the importance of National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) accreditation among research institutions.

Professor (Dr.) Tribhuvan Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, Rajasthan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Jobner, Jaipur, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his address, he highlighted the significant contribution of the livestock sector to the gross domestic product of both the state and the nation. He noted that while animal and veterinary science research has achieved several notable milestones, laboratory accreditation has not received adequate attention. He therefore urged research institutes and laboratories to accord priority to accreditation to strengthen quality assurance and credibility of scientific outputs.

The workshop witnessed the participation of about 70 researchers and faculty members from various laboratories of ICAR institutes and State Agricultural and Veterinary Universities across Rajasthan. The programme provided a valuable platform for sensitising scientists and laboratory professionals on quality management systems and accreditation processes, thereby contributing to the strengthening of research and testing infrastructure in the livestock sector.
