ICAR–National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Physiology, Bengaluru, organized a one-day Farmer–Scientist Interaction Meet cum Input Distribution Programme under the DAPSC scheme today in the villages of V. Mamandur, Karunthalakurichi, and Anumanandhal Kuppam, Kallakurichi District, Tamil Nadu. The programme focused on promoting scientific feeding practices and nutritional interventions to improve dairy cattle productivity and farmer livelihoods.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Artabandhu Sahoo, Director, ICAR-NIANP. He emphasized the role of strategic nutritional management in enhancing milk yield, reproductive efficiency, and overall animal welfare. Dr Sahoo highlighted the benefits of Fertimin Plus in correcting micronutrient deficiencies and boosting rumen microbial efficiency, and also stressed hygienic milking practices for clean milk production.
Dr. S. Vishnukanthan, Joint Director, Animal Husbandry Department, Kallakurichi, elaborated on vaccination schedules and available government schemes.

Mr. S. Karunanidhi, Additional Director, Agriculture (Retd.), in his special address, urged farmers to adopt modern technologies and integrated farming systems for sustainable livelihoods.
Dr. K. Arunachalam, In-charge Dean, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Salem, delivered the presidential address, underlining the importance of systematic deworming in livestock health management.
During the programme the experts outlined strategies to improve conception rate and milk yield, and scientific feeding practices.
The programme served as a significant platform for technology transfer, reaffirming ICAR-NIANP’s commitment to inclusive agricultural development by translating research into field-level impact and supporting nutritional equity and productivity enhancement in smallholder dairy systems.
A total of 150 Scheduled Caste dairy farmers participated and received input kits containing 200 kg concentrate feed, 5 kg Fertimin Plus mineral mixture, a 20-litre plastic milk can, 10-litre stainless steel bucket, rubber mat, deworming boluses, Projana veterinary capsules, and a technical information leaflet.
