ICAR-NAARM, Hyderabad Celebrates Golden Jubilee Year of Establishment

ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, Hyderabad, celebrated its Golden Jubilee Year of Establishment today, marking five decades of its significant contributions to capacity building, research, education, innovation management and policy advocacy in Indian agriculture. Padma Bhushan Dr R. S. Paroda, Former Director General, ICAR, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Dr M. L. Jat, Secretary, DARE and Director General, ICAR, presided over the function.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Paroda lauded the achievements of ICAR-NAARM and its sustained efforts towards building quality human capital for the National Agricultural Research and Education System (NARES). He called upon the Academy to further strengthen the capacity of agricultural professionals through an innovation systems framework. He also emphasized the need to foster a culture of disruptive innovation, agricultural foresight, digital agriculture strategies and innovation-led entrepreneurship to address emerging challenges in the sector.

In his presidential address, Dr Jat urged ICAR-NAARM to promote and disseminate the agri-food systems approach by effectively integrating research, education and extension. Encouraging the Academy to strengthen leadership in agriculture at various levels, he stressed the importance of competency-based capacity strengthening of agricultural professionals across sectors. He noted that such efforts would contribute significantly towards realizing the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.

Dr Y. S. Malik, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Education), ICAR, congratulated ICAR-NAARM on the landmark occasion and recalled the Academy’s multifaceted contributions in capacity building, research and policy advocacy, education, and promotion of innovation in agriculture. He assured the Academy of continued support for its future endeavours in strengthening innovation management in Indian agriculture.

Earlier, Dr R. M. Sundaram, Director, ICAR-NAARM, presented an overview of the Academy’s achievements, highlighting its major initiatives and accomplishments over the years, along with its future priorities and strategic pathways.

As part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations, publications were released, and best-performing and long-serving employees of ICAR-NAARM, along with outstanding partners from different sectors, were felicitated for their contributions and association with the Academy.

Dr Gopal Lal, Joint Director, ICAR-NAARM, welcomed the dignitaries and participants representing research, education and capacity-building institutions under NARES, as well as the agri-business industry.

The Golden Jubilee celebrations marked a significant milestone in ICAR-NAARM’s journey and reaffirmed its commitment to developing competent human resources, fostering innovation and strengthening agricultural research and management for a resilient and progressive Indian agriculture.
