ICAR Institutes celebrate International Women’s Day - 2020

The International Women’s Day is observed on 8^th March every year globally to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

Observing the current year’s theme #EachforEqual, the ICAR Institutes pan India celebrated the day with full zeal.

ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management

The Institute celebrated the International Women’s Day on the theme “I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women's Rights”. The theme emphasizes on economic empowerment of women as one of the important factors to provide her equality in the society.

The State Bank of India’s officials delivered  lectures on the occasion. They highlighted the importance of economic security and outlined about many schemes specifically benefiting the girl child and women in general.

ICAR-Research Complex for Eastern Region, Patna, Bihar

In her lecture on Women Empowerment, the Chief Guest, Smt. Suman Singh, Secretary, Sakhi NGO emphasized on the role of women power in holistic development of the society.

Dr. Ujjwal Kumar, Director, ICAR-RCER elucidated the role of women in various activities. He also highlighted about the women centric schemes like “PM Ujjwala Yojana”, “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao”, “Sukanya Samridhi Yojana”, “Mahila E-Haat” and “Working Women Hostels”, etc.

Around 25 women farm workers were felicitated during the occasion.

ICAR-Central Institute for Subtropical Horticulture, Rehmankhera, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh

The Institute organized an awareness programme in Unchahar Village, Unnao District for encouraging the scheduled caste women to grow their own vegetables in kitchen garden and use ready-to-grow mushrooms.

The Institute also organized a meeting at Kusmaura Village under the Scheduled Caste Sub Plan Programme during the occasion. The seedlings of vegetable plant were demonstrated for ensuring the nutritional security and sustainable livelihood. The rural Scheduled Caste women were also distributed the plants seedlings and seeds of vegetables for establishing the nutri-gardens.
