The ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture, Bhubaneswar arranged the live telecast of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi launching ceremony at its campus today.
It was out of four States viz., Kerala, Karnataka, West Bengal and Odisha; that the ICAR-CIWA got identified as the nodal institute for arranging the live interaction of Hon’ble Prime Minister with the farmers in Odisha in the form of live webcast that was participated by about 1,500 farmers, Government Officials and Scientists.
In his address, the Chief Guest, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Minister of State for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare outlined the importance and potential of several newly launched schemes of the Government along with the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi to Double Farmer's Income by the Year - 2022.
The several farmers from 40 villages across Odisha were provided with an opportunity for attending the live webcast of the Hon'ble Prime Minister’s “Mann Ki Baat”. The programme was followed by the detail elaboration of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme.
During the live webcast, one of the progressive farm women, Smt. Gouri Mohapatra of Nuasahi village of Puri District interacted enthusiastically live with the Hon'ble PM and expressed her gratitude for the benefits that she availed from the several Government schemes that are aimed at doubling the farm income. The farming community was vividly explained about the scheme’s benefits, thus adding new dimensions to their existing pattern of assistance in agriculture from the Central Government.
Earlier, Mr. P.K. Swain, Joint Secretary (Marketing), Department of Agriculture & Cooperation, Government of India, New Delhi delivered his welcome address.
Dr. S.K. Srivastava, Director, ICAR-CIWA proposed the formal vote of thanks to the delegates and the farmers.
