Brainstorming Session on Technological Innovations and Strategies for Farmers’ Prosperity in Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh inaugurated

The two-day Brainstorming Session on “Technological Innovations and Strategies for Farmers’ Prosperity in Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh” was inaugurated at the C. Subramaniam Hall, National Agricultural Science Centre Complex, New Delhi today.

The Session was jointly organized by the ICAR-Agricultural Extension Division, New Delhi and ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Jabalpur.

The Chief Guest, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare urged to organize a series of such types of sessions for the welfare of other states and farmers of the country. The Minister emphasized on zero level of formalities in such types of programmes.

Shri Tomar stressed on the intervention of technology in the agriculture as it plays an important role in balancing the ups and downs and strengthening the Indian Economy. He emphasized on the cooperation between the scientists and farmers that has succeeded in providing fruitful results in the field of agriculture and farming. The Minister also urged the farmers to provide their due supports in order to make the various schemes being run by the government to be successful.

Emphasizing on the Organic Manure, Shri Tomar urged to adopt the integrated farming in order to strengthen the income-centric agriculture and the farmers’ community.

The Union Ministers of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Shri Kailash Choudhary and Shri Parshottam Rupala were also present during the occasion.

Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & DG (ICAR) stated that the programme has been organized with an aim to enhance the prosperity and income of the farmers

The Director General said that the vision of doubling the farmers’ income by the Year - 2022 can be realized with the intervention of agricultural technologies.

He emphasized on organizing such types of programmes for the other states as well in the near future. He stressed that the various deliberations with the farmers, scientists, students, farming products organizations and the Non Government Organizations will be utilized to prepare the policies and adopt the prompt technologies for the farmers’ welfare.

Shri Sanjay Agarwal, Secretary, Department of Agriculture, Cooperation & Farmers Welfare elaborated about the various farmers’ welfare schemes being run by the government.

Dr. A.K. Singh, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR outlined the programme schedule of the two-day long programme. Dr. Singh emphasized on preparing the future plan in accordance with the various important deliberations.

The various Diagnostic Kits and Mobile Apps were released on the occasion.

Dr. V.P. Chahal, ADG (Agricultural Extension), ICAR proposed the Vote of Thanks.

The Members of Parliament, Senior Officials of ICAR, Directors, Scientists, Vice-Chancellors of State Agricultural Universities, Students, Policy Makers, Agricultural Products Organizations along with Selected Farmers from Krishi Vigyan Kendras of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh participated in the programme.
