“The Central Government has initiated the various Schemes to realize the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi’s vision to benefit and increase employment opportunities for the people of the North-East Region”, said Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare. Shri Tomar was addressing the “Interaction-cum-Seed Distribution Programme” organized by the ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Zone - VI, Guwahati, Assam at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kamrup today. The Union Minister also urged to focus on strengthening the economy that is agricultural-centric.
Shri Tomar also distributed the packets of Seeds to the farmers during the occasion. The seeds were made available under the North-Eastern Hills Component of ICAR-IARI, New Delhi; ICAR-IARI, Assam; ICAR-VPKAS, Almora, Uttarakhand; ICAR-IIAB, Ranchi; ICAR-DCR, Puttur and ICAR-CISH, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
Shri Atul Bora, Minister of Agriculture & Animal Science, Government of Assam; Shri Sanjay Agarwal, Secretary, Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India; Dr. Ashok Kumar Singh, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR and Dr. P.K. Pathak, Vice-Chancellor & Director of Extension Education, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat, Assam were also present on the occasion.
More than 200 farmers, farmer women and rural youth participated in the programme.
