Union Minister of State for Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare visits ICAR-RC for NEH Region, Sikkim

Shri Kailash Choudhary, Union Minister of State for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare visited the ICAR-Research Complex for North-Eastern Hills Region, Sikkim Centre, Gangtok today. Shri Choudhary distributed the poultry chicks, piglets and seed inputs to the Progressive Farmers of Sikkim. During his interaction with the Progressive Farmers, the Minister outlined the Government of India’s different Schemes for the benefit of the farmers.

Shri Loknath Sharma, Agriculture Minister, Government of Sikkim and Shri Y.T. Lepcha, MLA, Gangtok accompanied the Minister during the visit.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr. Ramgopal Laha, Joint Director, ICAR-RC for NEH Region, Sikkim Centre apprised the Minister about the Centre’s achievements, specifically, the developed low-cost farmers’-friendly technologies and rapid dissemination to the farmers under the different programmes.

The Senior Officials of ICAR-Sikkim Centre, Krishi Vigyan Kendras, State Government Departments and Progressive Farmers from the different parts of Sikkim were also present on the occasion.
