Report on Campaign for Balanced Use of Fertilizers under ICAR-ATARI Zone X, Hyderabad

Under the Intensive Awareness Campaign on Balanced Use of Fertilisers coordinated by ICAR–Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Zone X, Hyderabad, a series of extension and awareness activities were conducted on 15.05.2026 across eight districts of Andhra Pradesh involving six participating KVKs. The campaign focused on promoting scientific nutrient management, balanced fertiliser application, and sustainable soil health practices among farming communities.

A total of 263 farmers were directly covered through 6 awareness programmes and 5 training programmes benefiting 245 farmers. KVK scientists disseminated 2,174 technical messages and advisories through WhatsApp-based outreach platforms. The campaign achieved a substantial digital outreach of 1,13,887 farmers through WhatsApp, Facebook, X, and other social media platforms, while 605 farmers were covered through direct physical contact and interactions. In addition, 96 farmers visited KVKs for technical consultation and interaction with scientists. Overall, the campaign significantly strengthened farmer awareness on balanced fertiliser use and scientific nutrient management practices across the participating districts under ICAR–ATARI Zone X, Hyderabad.

Under the Intensive Awareness Campaign on Balanced Use of Fertilisers coordinated by ICAR–Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI), Zone X, Hyderabad, extensive awareness and extension activities were conducted on 15.05.2026 across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry involving 72 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs). The campaign focused on promoting balanced fertiliser application, scientific nutrient management, soil health improvement, and sustainable agricultural practices through field-level extension interventions.

A total of 29 awareness programmes covering 1,214 farmers and 14 training programmes benefiting 573 farmers were organized across the four states. In addition, interface meetings and stakeholder interactions involving 61 participants were conducted along with participation of public representatives and extension stakeholders. KVK scientists disseminated 25,227 technical messages and advisories through WhatsApp-based outreach platforms.

The campaign achieved a substantial digital outreach of 1,93,214 farmers through WhatsApp, Facebook, X, and other social media platforms, while 2,169 farmers were covered through direct physical contact and interactions. Overall, the campaign generated a cumulative outreach of 1,95,383 farmer contacts through both physical and digital modes across ICAR–ATARI Zone X, Hyderabad, thereby strengthening awareness on balanced fertiliser use and sustainable nutrient management practices.
