A sensitization programme on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, 2013 was organized at ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institutes, Zone VI, Guwahati today, with the objective of creating awareness among staff about maintaining a safe and respectful workplace environment.
The programme was graced by distinguished dignitaries including Dr G. Kadirvel, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Zone VI, Guwahati; along with senior officials and staffs of the institute.

In his address, Dr Kadirvel emphasized the importance of institutional mechanisms in ensuring a safe working environment and shared practical experiences related to handling POSH cases within ICAR institutions. He highlighted that the Act not only addresses physical harassment but also includes verbal, digital, and behavioural misconduct.
A detailed technical session on the provisions of the POSH Act 2013 was conducted focusing on legal interpretations, case handling procedures, and awareness of rights and responsibilities.

The programme concluded with a strong message on fostering mutual respect, understanding personal boundaries, and promoting a gender-sensitive workplace culture. Participants were urged to contribute towards building an inclusive and secure institutional environment, where concerns can be raised fearlessly and addressed promptly in accordance with established guidelines.
