7–13 August 2025, Baramulla
A five-day Skill Development Training on “Advanced Scientific Sheep Farming for Sustainable Livelihood in Kashmir” was successfully organized at ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra Baramulla under the ARYA programme from 7–13 August 2025. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Wasim Hassan Raja, Scientist & Programme Coordinator, KVK Baramulla, along with the District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Baramulla.

Over the course of the training, experts delivered 10 technical sessions covering a wide range of topics, including:
• Sheep farming scenario in Kashmir
• Breeds of sheep in the region
• Common diseases and preventive measures
• Advanced technologies in sheep farming
• Government schemes for sheep farmers
• Fodder cultivation and conservation practices
To complement classroom learning, participants undertook an exposure visit to FVSc & AH, Shuhama, where they interacted with specialists and observed modern sheep farming practices firsthand.

The programme concluded with a valedictory session chaired by Dr. Shuail Ahmad, Scientist, IGFRI, who commended the enthusiasm of the participants and encouraged them to adopt improved scientific practices for sustainable sheep farming and livelihood enhancement.
The training witnessed the active participation of 51 farmers, including youth and women, from various parts of Baramulla district.
