As part of the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2026, the ICAR-Central Tuber Crops Research Institute, Thiruvananthapuram, organised a cleanliness and awareness programme today, with a focus on promoting cleanliness and environmentally sustainable practices across the office and campus premises.
A special cleanliness drive was undertaken at the Biochar Unit and the campus area surrounding the Technology Incubation Centre of the Institute. Staff members, students and housekeeping/cleaning personnel actively participated in the drive and contributed to cleaning and maintaining the identified areas.
The participants were also sensitised to the importance of maintaining cleanliness and adopting environmentally responsible practices in offices and on campus. The programme emphasised waste segregation, recycling, and the adoption of clean-desk and clean-campus practices.
Participants were encouraged to minimise the use of printed documents by promoting digital documentation, restricting printing to essential requirements and using digital banners during meetings and events. The importance of avoiding single-use items and promoting the use of reusable water bottles and cups in meeting and conference rooms was also highlighted.
The programme reinforced the Institute’s commitment to fostering a clean, sustainable and environmentally responsible workplace and campus.
