Sushri Shobha Karandlaje, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare inaugurated the administrative building of KVK Chikkamagaluru, Karnataka today. A postal stamp and cover emphasizing the importance of spice-based products of the district to bring awareness among the public on ODOP was released by the Minister. The stamp was received by Dr. V. Venkatasubramanian, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Bengaluru.


In her inaugural address, Sushri Karandlaje emphasized the importance of value addition and marketing of spice-based products for doubling farmers’ income in the district. She appreciated the efforts of ICAR-ATARI, Bengaluru in supporting the technology application programmes in the district and also called for the participation of the State Department of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Horticulture and fisheries for taking forward the benefits of technological interventions implemented by Krishi Vigyan Kendra in the district. The Minister also called for the utilization of agri-infrastructure funds and other benefits extended through Central sponsored schemes such as PMFME, NICRA and DAMU programmes launched by Govt. of India.
Sushri Karandlaje also distributed critical inputs to farmers under Natural Farming Project and released publications.
Dr.R.C Jagadeesh, Vice Chancellor, KSNUAHS, Shivamogga presided over the programme.
