ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Bengaluru campus organized the Annual Review Meeting for 2021 and 2022 of the Consortium Research Platform on Vaccines and Diagnostics (CRP on V&D) at Bengaluru (24- 25 January 2023).
In his inaugural address, Dr. Bhupendra Nath Tripathi, Deputy Director General (Animal Science) emphasized the importance of health management of animals, fish, and agricultural crops. He appreciated the contribution of CRP on V&D in generating newer technologies useful for the Agricultural economy. He stressed the importance of research collaboration with industry partners to facilitate the commercialization of the technologies for the benefit of end users.
Dr. Ashok Kumar, Assistant Director General (Animal Health) emphasized that CRP on V&D is a unique program with inter-sectoral linkage. He urged the scientists to take up commercialization of the technologies developed under CRP on V&D to reflect the program’s visibility.
Dr. Prem Kumar, Assistant Director General (Marine Fisheries) acknowledged the scientists for developing useful technologies.
Dr. S. C. Dubey, Assistant Director General (Plant Protection and Biosafety) emphasized plant seed health testing on field lots and improving the sensitivity and validation of diagnostic kits.
Dr. Pallab Chaudhuri, Joint Director, IVRI, Bengaluru campus-cum-Project Coordinator of CRP on V&D presented the progress of the platform and mentioned that a total of 89 technologies have been generated. He highlighted that four technologies have been commercialized, 23 technologies have been released, 22 technologies have passed the validation process and are ready for release, and 44 technologies are in pipeline.
Dr.B.P.Sreenivasa, Coordinator (Livestock sector), Dr.R.Selvarajan, Director, ICAR-NRCB cum Coordinator (Agriculture sector), and Dr. M. Makesh, Coordinator (Fisheries sector) briefed the house about the progress made in their respective sectors.
Dr. A. Sanyal, Director (ICAR-NIHSAD), Dr. B. R. Gulati, Director (ICAR-NIVEDI), and Dr.M.Krishna Reddy, Principal Scientist (Retd), ICAR-IIHR also participated in the review meeting and provided critical suggestions.
The forum reviewed the progress of 20 research projects which were underway during the review period. Also, discussed and approved 29 new research projects.
During the meeting, the Principal Investigators/Co-investigators from 14 ICAR research institutes, including four animal science, four fisheries, and six agricultural crop science institutes registered their participation and presented the progress reports and targets of the future work plan.
