ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad organized an Amrit Samvad at its Model Village, Gaddamallaiahguda Village in Yacharam Mandal, Rangareddy District, Telangana under Special Campaign 5.0 today. The event aimed to create awareness among villagers about cleanliness, waste management, and sustainable living practices in line with the vision of Swachh Bharat and Amrit Kaal.
During the session, participants discussed the importance of plastic-free environments, conservation of natural resources, and the role of communities in maintaining hygiene and sanitation in rural areas.
Resource persons explained the harmful impacts of plastic pollution on soil, water, and biodiversity and encouraged the use of eco-friendly alternatives like cloth and jute bags, stainless-steel bottles, and reusable containers.

They also imparted knowledge to Participants about how to prepare compost using easily available materials such as vegetable peels, fruit waste, and dry leaves
The programme also highlighted the collective community efforts toward cleanliness, water conservation, and improved agricultural practices
Around 40 participants including scientific, SHG female farmers and other farmers actively took part in the programme.
Later all participants removed plastic waste and weeds.
The awareness session inspired several participants to initiate home composting and adopt eco-friendly measures in their daily life.
The programme successfully conveyed the message of “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” and demonstrated how individual actions can collectively contribute to environmental sustainability.
