ICAR-Indian Institute of Oilseeds Research, Hyderabad, organized a sponsored farmers training course on “Potential of Crop Diversification to Oilseeds in Odisha”, during September 08-12, 2025. The training comprised of interaction with scientists, classroom lectures, discussions, field and museum visits, and visit to ICAR- IIMR.
Dr. R.K. Mathur, Director, ICAR-IIOR, while interacting with farmers during the concluding session, emphasized the importance of value addition in oilseed crops to enhance farmers’ economic returns. He assured participants of ICAR-IIOR’s support in providing quality seeds of the latest hybrids and varieties, along with technological backstopping to improve oilseed crop yields.

The participants were advised to form Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and avail the benefit of government schemes and programs.
Around 27 farmers and members of SHGs from Deogarh district, Odisha participated in the programme.
