Capacity Development Workshop for Krishi Sakhis on Cashew Production and Processing Organised

ICAR–Directorate of Cashew Research, Puttur, Karnataka, organized a three-day capacity development workshop on “Cashew Production and Post-Harvest Technologies” for Krishi Sakhis of Sullia taluk from August 20–22, 2025. The programme, aligned with the Krishi Sakhi Convergence Program (KSCP) launched by the Government of India in 2024, aimed to strengthen the role of Krishi Sakhis as para-extension workers and effective change agents in promoting scientific cashew cultivation.

Capacity Development Workshop for Krishi Sakhis on Cashew Production and Processing Organised

The workshop covered technical sessions on high-yielding varieties, pest and disease management, canopy management, mechanization, soil and nutrient management, cashew apple value addition, and raw cashew nut processing. Participants were also briefed on schemes and facilities available for cashew promotion.

During the valedictory session, held on August 22 at ICAR-DCR, participants expressed that the programme was a valuable learning experience and committed to disseminating the knowledge to farmers. Certificates were distributed to all Krishi Sakhis.
