Empowering Farmers through PM-KISAN Programme at ICAR-NAARM

As part of the nationwide initiative led by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, the live telecast of the 20th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme was successfully organized today at the ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, Hyderabad. The event was arranged for the benefit of Academy staff and participating farmers.

The programme began with an insightful Farmer–Scientist Interaction session, where participants discussed prevailing agricultural challenges, explored innovative solutions, and deliberated on institutional support mechanisms. This was followed by the live virtual address by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, who reiterated the government's unwavering commitment to farmer welfare through timely income support and strategic agricultural reforms under the PM-KISAN scheme.

A notable highlight of the programme was the enthusiastic participation of over 40 farmers from Agraharam Potlapally village, Rajapur Mandal, Mahbubnagar District, Telangana. Their interaction with the Director and faculty of ICAR-NAARM underscored the Academy’s active role in bridging grassroots farming communities with agricultural policies and knowledge systems.

During the programme, the farmers were briefed on the objectives and recent developments under the PM-KISAN scheme. The discussions emphasized the importance of regular financial assistance, the transformative role of innovation in enhancing productivity, and strategies to build resilience in rainfed and smallholder farming systems.
