To mark the release of the 20th installment of PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi, ICAR-Central Plantation Crops Research Institute, Kasaragod organized a special event under the banner of PM Kisan Utsav Diwas. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, in his national address, highlighted the transparency of the scheme, noting that the funds are being transferred directly to farmers' bank accounts without the involvement of intermediaries. He also emphasized the need to strengthen the Vocal for Local initiative to mitigate global trade-related price volatility.

The Chief Guest, Shri N.A. Nellikunnu, Member of Legislative Assembly, Kasaragod, inaugurated the interaction programme and lauded ICAR-CPCRI for its farmer-centric initiatives. In his address, he commended the Government of India’s efforts in empowering farmers and reaffirmed the enduring relevance of the slogan, “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan.”
Delivering the presidential address, Dr. K.B. Hebbar, Director, ICAR-CPCRI, underscored the role of natural farming in combating climate-induced challenges, such as whitefly infestation. He highlighted the significance of climate-resilient agriculture and technology-driven innovations being developed by ICAR-CPCRI. He further elaborated on the carbon credit potential of coconut and arecanut-based farming systems, which not only sequester atmospheric carbon dioxide but also minimize greenhouse gas emissions from agricultural lands.

Smt. Suma, Deputy Director, ATMA, felicitated the gathering and extended her appreciation to the participants and organizers.
An interactive session on the “Scope of Natural Farming in Kasaragod District” was conducted, followed by a live demonstration on the preparation of natural farming inputs including Jeevamrutha, Neemastra, and Brahmastra. These demonstrations aimed to empower farmers with sustainable, low-cost agricultural practices.
