ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad, organized a “Kisan Mela and Scientist-Extension-Farmer Interface Meeting” today under Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP). The programme was held at Maleboregaon Village, Adilabad (Rural) Mandal, Adilabad District, Telangana.
Dr V. K. Singh, Director, ICAR-CRIDA and Chief Guest of the programme, stressed on the effect of El-Nino and the preparedness measures and inaugurated the exhibitions stalls.
The sessions covered a wide range of topics related to dryland agriculture, including livestock interventions for improving productivity, natural resource management, and climate-resilient technologies. Presentations also focused on farm mechanization, various agricultural schemes, cropping system interventions, soil health management, the impacts of El Niño and coping strategies, crop diversification, integrated farming systems, and contingency measures for Adilabad district.
Scientist-Extension-Farmer Interface meeting was also held as part of the programme, where farmers interacted with the scientists on various issues such as water management, agronomic practices etc.
During the Mela, inputs such as manual weeder, zinc sulphate, vermibed unit and biofertilizers were distributed to the farmers. As part of Kisan Mela, an exhibition was also organized where CRIDA technologies such as BBF Planter, Weeder, Biofertilizer etc. were displayed.
As part of the exhibition, a lady entrepreneur from Adilabad showcased value added products from different commodities.
About 46 women farmers and 234 men farmers from the TSP adopted villages representing four Mandals participated in the programme.
