ICAR–Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad organized a Kisan Mela under the Scheduled Caste Sub Plan (SCSP) at the Mallampet Rythu Vedika, Kotapally Mandal, Mancherial district, Telangana.
Dr V. K. Singh, Director, ICAR-CRIDA, graced the programme as the Chief Guest.
During the programme, farmers were sensitized to the anticipated El Niño conditions, their likely implications for agriculture, and suitable crop management strategies to minimize climate-related risks. Scientists from the Institute highlighted climate-resilient agricultural practices and advised farmers on appropriate adaptation measures to sustain productivity under changing climatic conditions.
As part of the Scheduled Caste Sub Plan, bullock-drawn ploughs and bio-fertilizers were distributed to eligible beneficiary farmers to promote farm mechanization and encourage sustainable agricultural practices.
The programme also included field visits to redgram demonstration plots, a Custom Hiring Centre, and poultry units, where participants were exposed to improved crop production technologies, farm mechanization services, and diversified livelihood opportunities.
The event was attended by Shri Banoth Prasad, Assistant Director of Agriculture, along with other public representatives.
A large number of farmers from Mallampet, Edagatta, Rawalpalle, Kotapally, and neighbouring villages actively participated in the Kisan Mela, making the programme an effective platform for disseminating climate-resilient technologies and promoting sustainable agricultural development among farming communities.
