ICAR-Central Research Institute for Jute and Allied Fibres, Barrackpore, Kolkata observed ‘Parthenium Awareness Week’ during August 16-22, 2025 to make aware among the Staff members about the menace of Parthenium, which is responsible for causing health problems in human beings and animals, besides deteriorating environment, loss of productivity and biodiversity and also to ensure Parthenium-free ICAR-CRIJAF Campus.
In this juncture, an 'Awareness Meeting' was organized at the Institute today on August 21, 2025. More than 100 participants including the scientists, technical, administrative and other staff, the KVK staff, project staff viz., RA/SRF/YPs and students of ICAR-IARI Kolkata Hub were present in the meeting. An eradication program was also taken up in the campus to make the Campus towards Parthenium free.
