ICAR–DMAPR Celebrates Vigilance Awareness Week 2025

ICAR–Directorate of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Research, Anand, observed Vigilance Awareness Week 2025 from 27 October to 2 November 2025. The concluding ceremony and a workshop on “Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility” were held today at the institute.

Shri Gaurav G. Jasani, Superintendent of Police, Anand, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Shri Neeraj Tanwar, Under Secretary (Vigilance), ICAR, attended as the Guest of Honour. Dr. Manish Das, Director, ICAR–DMAPR, presided over the function.

Delivering the keynote address, Shri Gaurav G. Jasani underscored the importance of vigilance in public life, noting that personal values, social values, and administrative systems together form the foundation of integrity. He emphasized that both the supply and demand sides must remain vigilant to prevent malpractice and reiterated the importance of strict adherence to rules and laws to combat corruption.

In his remarks, Shri Neeraj Tanwar highlighted vigilance-related provisions under government conduct rules, stressing the need for proactive and preventive measures to curb irregularities in government offices.

In his presidential address, Dr. Manish Das highlighted the significance of vigilance in both personal and public spheres. He noted that several safeguards are already in place within public administration and stressed that creating awareness among citizens is crucial for preventing corruption.

The experts emphasized the collective responsibility of maintaining vigilance in organizational functioning and discussed vigilance perspectives in financial and accounts management.

As part of the week-long observance, an Integrity Pledge was administered on 27 October 2025, and awareness posters were displayed to sensitize staff and the public.

A total of 75 participants, including scientists and staff members of the directorate, attended the ceremony.
