ICAR-DWR, Jabalpur organized a workshop cum training on World Intellectual Property Day 2026

World Intellectual Property Day was observed at the ICAR–Directorate of Weed Research, Jabalpur, today. Dr. Yogita Gharde, Senior Scientist, delivered a talk on “IP and Sports: Ready, Set, Innovate,” highlighting the growing importance of intellectual property (IP) management in agricultural research. The programme comprised lectures, panel discussions, and presentations.

Importance of World Intellectual Property Day in advancing research, stimulating innovation, and safeguarding the rights of inventors was highlighted during the programme.

Dr J.S. Mishra, Director, ICAR-DWR, Jabalpur, highlighted the institute’s initiatives in IP management and emphasized the pivotal role of intellectual property in agriculture and agribusiness.

A panel discussion was organized on various aspects of intellectual property. The event witnessed active participation from more than 52 participants, including scientists, officers, staff, and students, who also shared their experiences. As part of the outreach activities, awareness on intellectual property rights was also extended to farmers in Jujhari and Bhartari villages of Jabalpur district.

The experts interacted with the farming community, highlighting the importance of IP in agriculture, protection of innovations, and the role of traditional knowledge. The initiative aimed to sensitize farmers about safeguarding their innovations and enhancing their participation in the innovation ecosystem.
