An awareness programme on the balanced use of fertilizers for sustainable crop production was organized by ICAR–KVK, North and Middle Andaman at Govindpur village. The programme aimed to educate farmers on the judicious and need-based application of fertilizers, with a focus on soil health management, integrated nutrient management (INM), and the use of organic inputs for long-term productivity and environmental sustainability.
The importance of balanced fertilization and scientific nutrient management for maintaining soil fertility and enhancing crop productivity was emphasized.

The role of eco-friendly practices and household-level awareness in promoting sustainable agriculture and a healthy environment was also highlighted. Farmers were sensitized to minimize the excessive use of chemical fertilizers in order to reduce environmental pollution and safeguard soil health.
The programme witnessed active participation from local farmers. The programme was conducted under the overall guidance of Dr Jai Sunder, Director (Act.), ICAR-CIARI, Sri Vijayapuram.
Around 15 farmers participated enthusiastically, gaining knowledge that can be effectively applied in their fields for sustainable farming practices.
