Live Telecast of PM-KISAN Programme Organized by ICAR–NINFET

ICAR-National Institute of Natural Fibre Engineering and Technology, Kolkata, organized a special event to mark the live telecast of the release of the 20th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. The programme was held at Fakirbagan village, Bongaon Block, North 24 Parganas district, West Bengal.

Shri Gobinda Lal Majumder, Secretary, Gobardanga Seba Farmer Samity, North 24 Parganas, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. In his address to the farmers, he highlighted the significant role of the PM-KISAN scheme in enhancing farmers’ purchasing power and improving their livelihoods. He also noted the growing popularity and acceptance of the scheme among farmers in West Bengal.

Dr. D. B. Shakyawar, Director, ICAR-NINFET, expressed appreciation for the enthusiastic participation of farmers in the live telecast. He emphasized the transformative impact of the PM-KISAN scheme in empowering farmers and also briefed the gathering on innovative technologies developed by the institute, including Woollenized Jute and Jute Leaf Beverage. Dr. Shakyawar stressed the need for increased demonstrations and training programmes for jute growers to ensure better adoption of these technologies and to promote entrepreneurship and start-ups in the jute sector.

As part of the day’s activities, an awareness workshop on “Jute Diversified Products” was conducted, introducing farmers to new value-added jute-based innovations.

Additionally, farmers participated in a Front-Line Demonstration (FLD) of NINFET SATHI, a retting accelerator developed by the institute to enhance the quality and efficiency of jute fibre extraction.

The event witnessed the active participation of more than 100 farmers, who benefitted from the knowledge-sharing sessions and technology demonstrations aimed at boosting productivity and innovation in the jute farming sector.
