Smt. Daggubati Purandeswari, Member of Parliament, Rajamahendravaram, visited the ICAR–Directorate of Floricultural Research, Regional Station, Vemagiri, Kadiyam Mandal, Rajahmahendravaram, Andhra Pradesh, today.

Scientists of the Regional Station extended a warm welcome and briefed her on the centre’s mandate, ongoing research, and extension activities. During the visit, the Hon’ble MP toured the laboratory and research farm, where scientists presented various research initiatives, including alternate media and agricultural/industrial by-product–based potting mixtures for the nursery sector, tropical orchid cultivation, and major pathogens and nematodes affecting flower and ornamental nursery crops, along with their diagnostics and management strategies.
She interacted with the scientific team on the role of the Regional Station in supporting and promoting floriculture and the ornamental nursery sector in the region. The scientists apprised her of the economic significance of nurseries and the growing potential of the floriculture sector.

Smt. Purandeswari expressed satisfaction with the work being undertaken at the Regional Station. She appreciated the research and extension contributions of the scientists and encouraged them to facilitate and promote exports from the nursery sector.
