Brainstorming Session on Technological Innovations and Strategies for Farmers’ Prosperity in Rajasthan organized

The Brainstorming Session on Technological Innovations and Strategies for Farmers’ Prosperity in Rajasthan was organized by the Natural Resource Management Division of ICAR at the National Agricultural Science Centre Complex, Pusa, New Delhi today.

Shri Kailash Choudhary, Union Minister of State for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, the Special Guest of the occasion briefed about the various Central Government’s policies and schemes that are aimed for the welfare of the agricultural and farming community. The Minister also emphasized on the various problems and challenges being faced by the farmers in Rajasthan and urged to develop the prompt techniques to resolve the same efficiently and effectively.

Shri Choudhary suggested for making a policy for enabling the producer farmers to get the proper prices for their produces.

The Minister urged the farmers to adopt the modern technologies. This initiative would definitely help in the prosperity of the agricultural and farming community.

rajkisanconf-05-13072019Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & DG (ICAR) stressed on the adoption of the newer and advanced technologies that will help in achieving the targeted goal of doubling the farmers’ income by the Year - 2022. The Director General opined to organize such types of Brainstorming Sessions for the different states of the country in the near future. This would help the Government to adopt prompt steps for dealing with the various problems being faced by the agricultural and farming communities in the particular states.

Shri Sushil Kumar, Additional Secretary (DARE) & Secretary (ICAR) stated that exploring the facilities available in the state Rajasthan and providing them to the farming community is the uttermost need of the hour. This would be beneficial not only in their advancements, but would definitely help them to enhance their livelihoods as well.

Dr. K. Alagusundaram, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Engineering & Natural Resource Management) stated that Rajasthan being the largest state of the country is culturally, historically and traditionally rich. The presence of the various palaces and places of historical importance, the State has been one of the pioneer tourist destinations not in the country, but at the global level as well. The state also holds an importance due to its capability to produce the various important crops like Bajra, Mustard, etc.

Dr. R.S. Paroda, Former Secretary (DARE) & DG (ICAR) stressed on the initiatives to be taken in order to make the viable use of the facilities that are available for the benefit of the farming community in the state. Dr. Paroda also stressed on the prompt policies for the promotion of organic farming in the state. He stated that effective ways should be adopted to explore the opportunities and empower the youths for using the agricultural technologies wisely.

The Members of Parliament (Rajya Sabha & Lok Sabha) also shared their views on the different steps that can be taken for promptly dealing with the challenges being faced by the agricultural and farming community in the state.

The various other Dignitaries, students and farmers registered their participation during the occasion.
