Orientation Training Programme for Newly Recruited Technicians Inaugurated at ICAR RC for NEH Region, Umiam

18–22 May 2026, Meghalaya

ICAR Research Complex for North Eastern Hill Region inaugurated a five-day Orientation Training Programme for newly recruited Technicians (T-1) from 18–22 May 2026 at Umiam, Meghalaya.
The programme has been organised with the objective of orienting the newly recruited technical staff towards institutional functioning, professional responsibilities, and emerging developments in agricultural research and extension activities.

The training curriculum has been designed to provide comprehensive exposure to the core functioning of Administration, Establishment, Finance, Stores and Purchase, Research, Extension, Laboratory and Farm Management. The programme also includes sessions on operating specialised laboratory equipment and farm machinery, maintaining safety standards, and handling official documentation and reporting procedures for competency development.

During the inaugural programme, a detailed overview of the training schedule was presented, highlighting the crucial role of technical staff in strengthening the research and development activities of the Institute.

The orientation programme is expected to provide a valuable platform for the newly recruited technicians to familiarise themselves with the functioning of ICAR and enhance their technical capabilities for effective service delivery in the agricultural sector of the North-Eastern Hill Region.

A total of 52 participants from various divisions, sections, and regional centres of the Institute are attending the training programme.
