The Regional Workshop on State Agriculture Road Map and Rabi Action Plan under the Vikasit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan concluded at the ICAR-Central Potato Research Institute, Shimla. The workshop was inaugurated by the Agriculture Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Prof. Chandra Kumar, and presided over by Shri C. Palrasu, Secretary (Agriculture & Horticulture), Government of Himachal Pradesh.

In his address, the Chief Guest Prof. Chandra Kumar underlined the need for diversification in agriculture, stronger market linkages, youth engagement in farming, and addressing health concerns related to pesticide use. He lauded the farmers and scientists for their contributions towards making India food self-sufficient and stressed that policy formulation under this program would prove to be a milestone for farmers of the hilly state.
Shri C. Palrasu emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts by all stakeholders for successful implementation of the State Agriculture Road Map and VKSA initiatives. He congratulated ICAR-CPRI on its milestone achievement of developing 76 potato varieties in 76 years and highlighted several ongoing state government programs.
Dr. Brajesh Singh, Director, ICAR-CPRI, highlighted that as per ICAR guidelines, every state is preparing a five-year Agriculture Road Map to ensure research and policy planning tailored to local needs.

The event witnessed participation from scientists of ICAR and State Agricultural Universities (SAUs), along with officers and representatives from the State Agriculture and Horticulture Departments.
The technical sessions featured in-depth discussions on the State Agriculture Road Map, seed demand and availability, production targets for pulses and oilseeds, and integration of organic farming with animal husbandry.
On this occasion, several scientists and officers of the Institute actively contributed to the program.
