The Crop Science division of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) aims to develop advanced crop varieties and sustainable production technologies by leveraging frontier science and innovation to achieve food, nutritional, environmental, and livelihood security by 2047, aligning with India's Viksit Bharat vision. Key focus areas include harnessing advanced technologies like genomic breeding and digital agriculture, promoting climate-resilient crops, enhancing seed production and technology diffusion, and ensuring a farmer-centric approach to improve agricultural productivity and prosperity. To realize this vision, we seek like-minded partners from public and private sectors, industry, academia, and global institutions for farmers prosperity, regeneration and judicious use of resources, and climate smart agriculture.
