As part of the Special Campaign activities under Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2026, ICAR–National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Physiology, Bengaluru, organised dedicated one-day activities today to promote cleanliness, efficient utilisation of office spaces, environmental sustainability, inclusive practices and responsible waste management.
The activities included extensive cleanliness drives across the Institute campus, office premises and residential areas, along with the identification and improvement of cluttered spaces to ensure their effective utilisation. Office premises were assessed for necessary improvements, including wall painting, whitewashing, repainting and minor repairs, wherever required, to enhance cleanliness, aesthetics and functionality.

Environmental sustainability was a key focus of the campaign, with activities encompassing tree plantation, segregation and management of biodegradable waste, composting and awareness generation on resource conservation. Special emphasis was placed on e-waste management through the collection and segregation of discarded electronic items for their appropriate disposal. The campaign also involved the identification, segregation and management of obsolete materials and scrap to promote systematic waste disposal and improve the utilisation of institutional resources.
Reaffirming its commitment to inclusive and employee-friendly practices, the Institute emphasised the welfare, safety and dignity of Safai Mitras. Initiatives included health check-ups, the distribution of protective safety gear and recognition of sanitation workers for their valuable contribution to maintaining a clean and hygienic environment. Waste-to-Wealth initiatives, including Waste-to-Art activities, were also promoted to encourage the creative reuse and recycling of discarded materials and demonstrate the potential of waste as a resource.

The activities and achievements were documented through photographs and reports and disseminated through institutional communication channels and social media platforms to enhance awareness and encourage wider participation in cleanliness and sustainability initiatives.
The dedicated one-day campaign reaffirmed ICAR-NIANP's commitment to the objectives of Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2026 by promoting cleanliness, responsible resource utilisation, improved workplace environments, environmental protection and the welfare of sanitation workers. The initiative further strengthened the spirit of collective responsibility and good governance towards creating a clean, green, hygienic and sustainable institutional environment.
