As part of the 98th ICAR Foundation Day Celebration-cum-Awareness Programme and Material Distribution Programme, ICAR–National Research Centre on Mithun, Medziphema, Nagaland, organised an Awareness Programme and Material Distribution Programme for the improvement of the Mithun Breeding and Conservation Centre at the ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre, Lamphelpat.

The programme witnessed the participation of 50 beneficiaries, including 11 women, from Kabhikulai, Machi and Louphong villages of Manipur. Organised under the NERCOMP Project funded by the North Eastern Council (NEC), the programme featured technical sessions on scientific Mithun breeding, reproductive management, improved husbandry practices and conservation technologies.
To support scientific livestock management, veterinary medicines, dewormers, mineral mixtures, feed supplements and other essential livestock inputs were distributed to Mithun farmers. Assistance was also extended for the repair and strengthening of the Mithun Breeding and Conservation Centre through the provision of chairs, tables, paints and painting materials, along with other repair and maintenance materials.

The programme concluded with an interactive session between farmers and scientists, highlighting the efforts of ICAR–NRC on Mithun towards promoting sustainable Mithun farming, conserving the species and enhancing the livelihoods of Mithun-rearing communities across the North Eastern Region.
