The ICAR-National Research Centre on Meat, Hyderabad inked a Memorandum of Understanding with the Karnataka Sheep and Wool Development Corporation Limited (KSWDCL), Bangalore here today. The MoU has been signed for the implementation of mobile meat stall scheme for SC/ST community and train the scheme beneficiaries on the hygienic meat production and processing.
With the MoU, the Centre has provided the structural design and specifications for the Mobile Meat Vehicle Unit.
During the occasion, the Capacity Building Programme titled “Skill Development Training on Hygienic Handling, Storage and Processing of Meat and Meat Products” was also conducted in 4 batches for a period of three days each during 1st to 3rd, 4th to 6th, 15th to 17th and 18th to 20th July, 2019, respectively.
The Chief Guest of the first Training Programme held on 1st July, 2019, Dr. N. Krishna, Former Dean, College of Veterinary Science, Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University, Hyderabad highlighted the importance of hygienic handling and processing of meat products for the nutritional security and employment generation.
Dr. S. Vaithiyanathan, Director, ICAR-NRCM elaborated the Institute’s role in the development of organized meat sector in the country. He applauded the KSWDCL’s novel initiatives for the marketing of hygienic meat and meat products through the Mobile Meat Units.
Dr. M. Muthukumar, Principal Investigator of the Agribusiness Incubator at ICAR-NRCM co-ordinated the training programmes.
A total of 109 selected beneficiaries of the scheme from different Districts of Karnataka attended the programme.
