ICAR-NAARM celebrates Farmers’ Day

The ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, Hyderabad celebrated the “National Farmers’ Day (Kisan Diwas)” today. The Academy celebrated the auspicious day with the theme “Igniting young minds by Innovative Farmers”.

Dr. Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Director, ICAR-NAARM persuaded the students about the several ways of being connected to the farmers and farming through career options like Scientists, Teachers, Entrepreneurs and Civil Servants. Dr. Rao also felicitated the two Innovative Farmers during the occasion.

Dr. S. K. Soam, Joint Director, ICAR-NAARM was also present during the occasion.

Dr. Bharat S. Sontakki, Head, Extension Systems Management Division briefed about the importance of farmers and farming for the national development.

The two Innovative Farmer Entrepreneurs - Shri Bachu Veera Reddy and Shri Hari Babu encouraged the students by sharing their experiences on the prospects of “New-Generation Farming” as a career option. Both the farmers emphatically stressed on the need for infusing the young blood in the farming sector, well supported by their rich and satisfying experience as innovative farmer and entrepreneur.

The main objective of the programme was to create the awareness among the young students about the importance of farmers and farming for a healthy and prosperous nation.

Around 100 students of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Vidhyashram, NIRD Campus, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad and P. Obul Reddy Public School, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad participated in the event.
