ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture, Bhubaneswar, in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment, Government of Odisha, organized the State-Level PM-KISAN Diwas Celebration in alignment with the nationwide release of the 20th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, live-streamed from Varanasi.

The event was graced by Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, Chief Minister, Odisha, as the Chief Guest. In his address, the Chief Minister reaffirmed the State Government’s unwavering commitment to farmer welfare and rural prosperity. He highlighted key initiatives such as the CM Kisan Yojana and the Subhadra Yojana, while commending the collaborative efforts of ICAR-CIFA and the Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment in organizing the event for the benefit of Odisha’s farming communities. On this occasion, he also released a commemorative booklet titled “ବର୍ଷ ଏକ ଉପଲବ୍ଧି ଅନେକ” (One Year – Many Achievements), capturing milestones and success stories in the agriculture and allied sectors over the past year.
Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment and Energy, Government of Odisha, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the significant impact of the PM-KISAN scheme in extending timely support to lakhs of farmers across the state. He reiterated the government’s focus on integrated and inclusive development of agriculture and allied sectors.

Dr. J.K. Jena, Deputy Director General (Fisheries) ICAR, highlighted ICAR’s role in strengthening research and extension systems to ensure last-mile delivery of innovations and technologies to farmers.
Delivering the welcome address, Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Principal Secretary, Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment, Government of Odisha, emphasized the importance of convergence between central and state institutions in transforming Odisha’s agricultural landscape.
The event was also attended by Prof. Pravat Kumar Roul, Vice Chancellor, Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology; Shri Babu Singh, Member of Legislative Assembly, Ekamra; Shri Ashrit Pattanayak, MLA, Pipili, and Shri Prasanta Kumar Jagadev, MLA, Khordha along with senior officials including Shri Subrat Kumar Panda, Director, Soil Conservation & Watershed Management, and the Collectors of Khordha and Puri districts.
A symbolic plantation drive was conducted under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative, with enthusiastic participation from dignitaries and farmers, promoting environmental awareness and sustainability.
The celebration witnessed participation from over 3,500 progressive farmers and farm women, including members of Self Help Groups. Participants engaged in various knowledge-sharing sessions, live demonstrations, and exhibitions showcasing innovations in sustainable agriculture, aquaculture, and integrated farming systems.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Shri Ashrit Pattanayak, MLA, Pipili, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, farmers, scientists, officials, and partner organizations for their support and participation.
The overall coordination of the event was led by Dr. P.K. Sahoo, Director, ICAR-CIFA.
