Para tuberculosis or Johne’s disease caused by Mycobacterium avium subspecies Para tuberculosis (Map), is a contagious, chronic and usually fatal infection that affects primarily small intestine and associated mesenteric lymph nodes of ruminants. In view of the non-specific symptoms, the diagnosis of disease is difficult. The present ELISA uses PPA antigen from the Map ‘Bison type’ bacilli infecting domestic livestock population of Northern India.
