ICAR–Indian Institute of Groundnut Research, Junagadh organized a Farmers’ Fair-cum-Exhibition today at its campus under the National Awareness Campaign on balanced nutrient management, aiming to promote judicious fertilizer use, soil health, and sustainable practices in groundnut cultivation.
The event was attended by dignitaries including Shri Sanjaybhai Koradiya, MLA, Junagadh, Dr V. P. Chovatia, Vice-Chancellor, JAU, Junagadh, Shri J. J. Bhat, DAO, Junagadh, and Dr S. K. Bera, Director, ICAR-IIGR.

Speakers emphasized balanced fertilizer use, soil testing, natural farming, and adoption of eco-friendly and modern technologies to enhance productivity and sustainability. Progressive farmer Prashhotambhai Sidhapara shared experiences on natural farming.
An interactive session allowed farmers to share feedback, wherein farmers appreciated groundnut varieties and technologies developed by the Institute for enhancing productivity and profitability. The event provided a strong platform for farmer–scientist interaction and raised awareness on sustainable agriculture, expected to improve productivity and support edible oil self-sufficiency.

A total of 459 farmers’ participated, and 28 stalls displayed seeds, bio-inputs, machinery, fertilizers, irrigation systems, and modern technologies.
