IAS Officer Trainees from LBSNAA Visits ICAR CCARI, Goa

A group of eleven IAS Officer Trainees of the 2025 batch from the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie, Government of India, visited the ICAR–Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa today, as part of their winter study tour.

The trainees were warmly welcomed by the Director, Dr Parveen Kumar, who briefed them on the glorious journey of Indian agriculture and provided insights into the ICAR system and its contributions to national food security.

The experts delivered a detailed presentation on the mandate and research initiatives of the institute, with a focus on sustainable coastal agriculture, climate-resilient technologies, and natural resource management. They highlighted farmer-oriented technologies, integrated farming approaches, and ongoing innovative research efforts of ICAR-CCARI aimed at improving the livelihoods of coastal farmers.

The IAS Officer Trainees interacted with the scientists of the institute, and discussions were held on critical challenges such as insect pests of crops, salinity ingress, seaweed utilization, and retaining youth in agriculture through innovative solutions like agro-ecotourism, supported by scientific innovations and policy interventions.

The visit provided the participants with valuable exposure and insights into applied agricultural research and sustainable development relevant to coastal regions.
