ICAR-Central Institute for Research in Cotton Technology, Mumbai has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with M/s Mega Bags, Pune for the licensing of its technology for producing nanosilver-finished antimicrobial cotton textiles. Under this agreement, ICAR-CIRCOT will provide Mega Bags with access to its nanosilver finishing technology, which imparts antimicrobial properties to cotton fabrics. When applied to packaging materials, this innovation helps minimize microbial growth on packed items such as flowers, as validated in collaboration with ICAR -Directorate of Floricultural Research, Pune.
The MoU was signed by Dr. S. K. Shukla, Director, ICAR-CIRCOT, Mumbai, and Ms. Megha Bangale, Director, Mega Bags, Pune.

M/s Mega Bags intends to adopt this technology for the packaging of flowers during storage and transport. Its implementation is expected to reduce post-harvest losses and extend the shelf life of flowers.
M/s Mega Bags specializes in designing and manufacturing unique fabric and plastic - based bags for multipurpose applications.
On this occasion, the innovators of the technology - Dr. Ajinath Dukare, Dr. N. Vigneshwaran, Dr. A. Arputharaj, Dr. Jyoti Dhakane-Lad, and Dr. Kanika Sharma, were present.
