To mark the 1st National Goat Day, a Farmers-Scientists Interaction Programme was organized today at ICAR-Central Sheep and Wool Research Institute, Avikanagar, under the Sirohi Goat Farm Unit of the All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Goat Improvement. The event aimed to promote scientific goat rearing practices for enhancing livelihood security and income generation among farmers and entrepreneurs.
Experts from ICAR-CSWRI and the Western Regional Research Station (WRRS), ICAR - Indian Grassland and Fodder Research Institute, Avikanagar, delivered interactive lectures on key aspects of scientific goat farming.
Farmers actively participated in the discussions, raising queries that were addressed with practical solutions by the experts.
Dr. Arun Kumar, Director, ICAR-CSWRI, urged the farmers to adopt institute-developed technologies and emphasized improving per-animal productivity with the slogan “Good Breeds for Good Yields.”
Heads and in-charges of various divisions also interacted with farmers, offering technical guidance and support. The event reinforced the institute’s role in supporting rural livelihoods through scientific goat farming.
The programme witnessed participation from over 140 attendees, including goat farmers (both men and women), veterinary students, scientists, and institutional staff.
