International Women’s Day Celebrated at CPGSAS, Umiam

International Women’s Day was celebrated at the College of Post Graduate Studies in Agricultural Sciences (CPGSAS), Umiam, under the Central Agricultural University, Imphal. The programme was organised under the patronage of Dr Anupam Mishra, Vice-Chancellor, CAU, Imphal, and was graced by Dr Rajbir Singh, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR, as the Chief Guest.

On the occasion, Dr Anupam Mishra and Dr Rajbir Singh acknowledged the significant contributions of women in advancing agriculture, academia, and institutional development. They also felicitated women participants, recognising their dedication, achievements, and valuable contributions to the sector.

The event witnessed the presence of several distinguished dignitaries including Dr P. Das, Former Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR; Dr M. M. Adhikary, Former Vice-Chancellor, Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya (BCKV), West Bengal; Dr J. P. Sharma, Former Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu; Prof. D. Basu, Vice-Chancellor, Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya (UBKV), West Bengal; Dr V. V. Sadamate, Former Adviser (Agriculture), Planning Commission / Ministry of Agriculture; and Dr K. D. Kokate, Former Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR, New Delhi, who shared their perspectives on the role of women in agricultural development and education.

The programme was organised under the leadership of Prof. Dwipendra Thakuria, Dean, CPGSAS, Umiam, and was attended by faculty members, students and staff of the institution. The celebration highlighted the important role of women in agriculture, education and community development, with special emphasis on the 2026 theme, “Give for Gain.”
