The ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Jodhpur organized Zonal Review Meeting of Farmer FIRST Programme at its campus today.

Dr VP Chahal, Assistant Director General (Agricultural Extension) in his presidential address emphasised upon the involvement of research Institutes of ICAR and SAUs selected under Farmer FIRST programme as part of KVK Scheme. He also stressed that farm families selected under this programme must be involved as active partners in research mode i.e technologies selection, assessment and application for improving the livelihood security in a sustainable way.
Dr. S.K. Singh, Director, ATARI briefed about the implementation of FFP in the country and Government of India’s initiatives for doubling up the farmer’s income. He also accentuated on promoting the development and promotion of resource conservation technologies for monitoring system properties, diversification and intensification through establishment of need based Integrated Farming System in present situation.
Dr. P.P. Rohilla, Member Secretary highlighted the project modalities and their evaluation by different committees that are constituted according to FFP guidelines. He briefed about the uniqueness and holistic nature of FFP programme.
The major objective of meeting was to review the progress of the sanctioned projects and to discuss the operationalization mechanism of the implementation under Farmer FIRST Programme to achieve the major goal and objectives.
Principal Investigators from different ICAR Institutes and State Agricultural Universities namely CAZRI, CSWRI, CIRB, CSSRI, NDRI, IARI, AU Jodhpur and CCSHAU, Hisar and Consortium leaders from IASRI and DKMA, New Delhi registered their participation in the meeting.
The meeting registered a total participation of 20 PIs and Co-PIs from Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan.
