ICAR-Directorate of Weed Research, Jabalpur celebrates its 31st Foundation Day

dwr-01-24042019The ICAR-Directorate of Weed Research, Jabalpur celebrated its 31st Foundation Day oday.

The Chief Guest, Dr. P.K. Bisen, Vice-Chancellor, JNKVV, Jabalpur emphasized on competing capacity of weeds with the crops for the various resources and their roles in the reduction of crop yield. Dr. Bisen stressed that the weeds are not only reducing the yield, but also harboring the insect and diseases. Dr. Bisen highlighted the ICAR’s role in transforming the agriculture through the research, teaching and extension.

The Guest of Honor, Dr. Aparup Das, Director, ICMR-National Institute of Research in Tribal Health, Jabalpur briefed about the mutual collaboration between the ICAR and ICMR at national level. He also stated about the working of both the organizations for the betterment of the people of the country in terms of nutritional and health security. Dr. Das urged for all the possible collaborations between ICAR-DWR, and ICMR-NIRTH, Jabalpur.

Earlier, Dr. P.K. Singh, Director, ICAR-DWR, Jabalpur briefed about the ongoing activities, collaborations, publications made during the year. Dr. Singh highlighted about the technologies developed for minimizing the cost of production with sustainable yield and for enhancing the income.

The Dignitaries also released  DWR publications on the occasion.

Around 7 staff members of the Directorate were also felicitated for providing their memorable services to ICAR for more than 25 years. Along with this, 2 staff members were also awarded for their outstanding contribution in the ICAR Sports at the Zonal and the National Levels.

Dr. Sampat, Director, Zoological of Survey of India; Director (Instruction); Director (Research); Dean (Faculty) and Dean (Agriculture); Dean (Agriculture Engineering, JNKVV); Scientists from ATARI-IX; ICMR-NIRTH and Borlaug Institute for South Asia; Shri Paikra from Aakashwani, Jabalpur and 20 progressive/achiever farmers from adopted village registered their participation on the occasion.
