Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & DG (ICAR) visited the ICAR-Indian Institute of Water Management, Bhubaneswar today. During his visit, the Director General reviewed the ICAR Institutes and Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology’s activities on doubling the farmers’ income.
Dr. Mohapatra urged the Institutions’ Heads for working in a time bound manner in order to achieve the Central Government’s recent initiatives like 100-days target and Jal Shakti Abhiyan. He also outlined the ICAR’s priorities and its recent engagements with the other departments to spread the reach of ICAR technologies.
In his concluding remarks, Dr. Mohapatra urged the Institution’s heads for working together with the Krishi Vigyan Kendras on a convergence mode in the selected villages of each District of Odisha. He emphasized on providing science-based solutions to the farmers’ problems by leveraging the on-going programmes of the government.
Dr. Mohapatra also released 3 publications of ICAR-IIWM during the occasion.
Dr. P.K. Agarwal, Vice-Chancellor, OUAT, highlighted the OUAT and the KVKs’ activities in doubling the farmers’ income in selected villages. He also stated about the progress made so far.
The Directors and Heads of ICAR Institutes also made presentations on the various activities being implemented and planned for doubling the farmers’ income and the progress made in adopted villages. The different issues faced during the course of implementation of programmes were also discussed.
The Directors of NRRI, CIFA, IIWM, CIWA and Heads of RC-CTCRI, CHES, RC-CARI and Scientists of IIWM attended the meeting.
