The six-day SAARC Regional Training Programme on “Laboratory Bio-safety and Bio-security for Handling Transboundary Animal Diseases and Zoonotic Emerging Pathogens” organized by the ICAR-National Institute of Veterinary Epidemiology and Disease Informatics, Bangalore concluded today. The training programme sponsored by the SAARC Agriculture Centre, Dhaka, Bangladesh was organized from 19th to 24th August, 2019.
Dr. Praveen Malik, Animal Husbandry Commissioner, Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Government of India marked his presence as the Chief Guest along with Dr. Ashok Kumar, Assistant Director General (Animal Husbandry), ICAR as the Guest of Honor of the occasion.
Earlier, the training program was inaugurated by Dr. Raghavendra Bhatta, Director, ICAR-National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Physiology, Bengaluru.
Dr. Ashish Kumar Samanta, Senior Programme Specialist (Livestock), SAARC Agriculture Centre (SAC), Dhaka, Bangladesh; Dr. Aniket Sanyal, Joint Director, ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Bengaluru Campus and Dr. Parimal Roy, Director, ICAR-NIVEDI were also present during the occasion.
The objective of the training programme was to impart the knowledge among the participants regarding the bio-safety and bio-security measures that need to be practiced in bio-safety laboratories while handling the infectious agents.
A total of 13 participants were attended the training program representing six countries (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka).
